Dār al-Iftāʾ

The Dār al-Iftāʾ at Darul Uloom al-Tahawiyyah, the scholarly strand of Tahawi Institute, is being prepared. We are not yet accepting questions; we will announce the service when it opens.

What is a Dār al-Iftāʾ?

A Dār al-Iftāʾ is a scholarly office for issuing fatāwā — reasoned answers to questions of Islamic law and practice. The institution sits within a long tradition: a person presents a question, a qualified scholar — a muftī — studies it against the sources and the established methodology of their school, and the answer is returned in writing. The aim is neither to lecture nor to legislate, but to help the questioner act on clear guidance.

At Tahawi

The Dār al-Iftāʾ runs under Darul Uloom al-Tahawiyyah, the scholarly strand within the institute that also delivers the ʿĀlimiyyah Programme and the wider ḥadīth and fiqh activities. Questions will be reviewed by scholars at the institute.

The service is in preparation. We are not yet accepting questions, and we have no submission form at this stage. We will announce here when the Dār al-Iftāʾ opens.
